A historic rugby tour is underway
New Zealand's 2026 tour of South Africa is building toward a four-Test series against the Springboks in one of rugby union's most anticipated rivalries.
The All Blacks opened the tour against the Stormers in Cape Town and continue with matches against the Sharks in Durban and the Bulls in Pretoria. The first Test against South Africa is scheduled for August 22 at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.
Major tour dates
- August 11: Sharks v New Zealand in Durban
- August 15: Bulls v New Zealand in Pretoria
- August 22: South Africa v New Zealand at Ellis Park
- August 29: Second Test in Cape Town
- September 5: Third Test at FNB Stadium, Johannesburg
- September 12: Final Test at M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore
The schedule recreates the demands of a traditional full tour, combining provincial matches with a high-profile international series. Squad depth, recovery and the ability to adapt between opponents will be central to New Zealand's challenge.
For the Springboks, the four Tests offer a sustained examination against one of their oldest rivals rather than a single isolated international window.
